Daylight in the Swamp!

What’s known only as “The Swamp” on the Tuscarora Nation is soon to undergo construction as a project of restoration in benefit for residents of the Tuscarora territory. Development for this restoration has been underway since late 2009 with the placement of surveillance wells throughout the swamp that are measured weekly to observe how much the water levels of the swamp will fluctuate annually. As data of the weekly water readings are being logged and analyzed, conceptual designs are being made to accompany the full potential of benefits that the swamp can provide for its community. Finishing designs of the restoration are expected to be finished by late winter or early spring for discussion and finalizing. After the final plan has been approved by the nation, construction of the project is to follow sometime within the same year.
